I know we are getting off topic so please allow me with one last question

So what is the true interpretation if not hermeneutically?

Uh huh. And what about when someone else preaches a different interpretation of the same passage, ILNC?

That's when we have to dig deeper into the Word, Scripture will always back Scripture, and the Holy Spirit will always help us understand it.

Well, what IS the true interpretation when you have different Protestant "authorities" giving multiple interpretations of the same verse?

You're coming from an evangelical fundamentalist position. Try looking at it from a Catholic/Orthodox position, and suddenly you find it's not all as clear cut and obvious as you think.

I find it very clear and obvious by reading it in a literal sense but I respect your opinion.

I think it was Billy Graham who said, "the good is getting better and the bad is getting worse." I guess I see some truth in that. You look at the evil in the world, the falling away from the word in our schools, etc. And yet there is much going on that is good. Churches are growing, the word is being preached, people working on the mission fields, etc.
You look at the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah and we sure don't seem far off from that. To me it is also a sign that we may be moving closer to the end times.

See my above response to Fundamentalist.

And now.....back to the OP. I'm not going to debate this stuff. It will get us nowhere.

Well, I know. But I don't want to hijack your thread and turn this into something about Billy Graham and Bible interpretation. It should be steered back to the subject of Sodom and Gomorrah.
