"Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now."
Many people believe Jesus did not drink alcoholic wine... but if that were the case, why would the above statement have been written in the bible? People serve the cheaper wine when guests don't know any better, after drinking too much alcohol... why would Jesus turn water into alcohol if we aren't supposed to drink it? I believe it was actually true WINE...alcohol... that is my own interpretation... at my church we are given wine instead of juice at Commuinion... I am just curious about others take on this....I actually began thinking about it last night when reading the Fundamentalist thread and I said I enjoyed dancing after a glass of wine... of course I was being a bit of a smarty pants... but it is true... I do drink wine... not in excess...but I personally do not find anything morally wrong with it... but that is my own beliefs...
my own belief was it was indeed wine, alcohaulic wine.
Also somewhere I think paul told someone to have a little wine for their stomach.
David danced before the Lord with all his might so, if David danced I think i should be able to as well....lol
Well, in regards to the whole wine for the stomach argument... I have been told by some people who believe it is a sin to drink wine that Paul did not mean to actually drink alcohol, as they believe anyone who is ill would not add alcohol to an ill stomach... but that was their theory not mine... just thought I would throw it out there...

lol well i guess those that believe that have never had a relative told that they need to drink some wine (with alcohol), because it was good for their heart by a DR. Now I dont drink, personal choice, but whether you do or you dont is a personal choice and is between you and God, I cant find anywhere in the Bible where it says not to drink..but it does say dont get drunk but rather be filled by the Spirit.

Definitely alcohol......they wouldn't have called it wine if it wasn't.
I agree with everything Arguy said.
I think so many things are taken too literal by folks. Having wine is not a sin. The over-indulgence of alcohol is a sin, just like anything else. That's why moderation is stressed in the Bible also.
Anything that is put ahead of God in one's life is "an idol" and that applies to whatever that "thing" is.
If it was grapejuice... then it was grapejuice... but my whole entire life reading the bible, hearing this story... uh... I would have bet it was actually wine... there is no big deal either way... actually, I was just really curious who thought it was juice.. and if they thought it was juice if they could explain the orifinal statement I posted...
Freedom... LOL... Sometimes I have to really think about your posts....haven't had my full pot of coffee yetLOL... do YOU think it is juice? or do you think Jesus was, as you put it a "Winebibber"? Which I don't think he was... just making that clear before someone comes on here saying I went on and on saying he was LOL
I believe that it was actual wine. There is no passage in the Bible preaching against alcohol. Back in that time and still to this day in some countries, the water was not fit to drink, so they drank wine with dinner.
Some people believe that drinking is a sin, but this is not stated in the Bible at all. I believe there is a passage advising that we not get drunk, but that is just common sense. People do silly things when they are drunk.

It was real wine. Alchohol and all...
I also believe He had the tolerance of a good Irishman.
After His translation He performed His first recorded miracle, making water into wine, which was not a breaking of the law, like turning a stone into bread would have been.
He added the component parts to the water, it was a wedding, i bet it was the best wine ever made.
