My father in law is a stout Catholic.
Participates in the church, very active.
But he has said some great things;

About the middle east.
"Thos people are just violent. Always have been violent always will. We should just kill them all"

About a terrorist attempt.
"All muslims are evil. They come to our country with their nutball ideas and do violence"

About muslims.
"They don't just want to have their own religion, they want everyone else to believe the same thing. they should all be killed"

It's just so hard to keep my mouth shut.
Doesn't he read history?

and the sad truth is that he thinks that his slate is wiped clean when he goes to confession and then says 10 Hail Mary's and 20 Our Fathers

I hear those words from the mouths of many other people claiming to be Christian besides the Catholics..
You should sit in on one of the Wednesday night prayer meetings in the place I used to worship in.
Instead of prayer it was an hour of bashing the Muslims and the Catholica among others..
Bigotry and hate dwell in the hearts of man, not the religion he adhere's to

I understand what you are saying about prayer - when you pray, Christ is the focus.

But outside of the prayer room, how do you look at this? We have people claiming the represent a religion who are beginning to wreak havoc in the country. When does it stop being considered as bigotry? When does this start to be a problem that needs to be dealt with? After another plane blows up? Is that the loving thing to do?

I am not saying we should be out for blood or anything, but at some point - these people need to be looked at and dealt with.
