Short answer is CAFE mandates that eliminate choices for consumers.

The Land Cruiser, Suburban, and Tahoe are probably going to end up being the last remaining body on frame SUV's in 15 years or so.

I wish there was more competition for the Suburban and Expedition EL.

I'm in love with the 2015i Yukon XL Denali. Needs to depreciate to around $50K in a year or two, and I'll replace the wife's 2007 Durango with it. Unbelievable they are $75K loaded up. Makes a new Durango Citadel for $50K seem like a bargain!

Point of Order:

Tahoe sold 83,502 in 2013.
Expedition sold 38,350 in 2013.

Admittedly that's way down from peak years in the past of over 200K units for either of them, and it shows why even GM was considering giving up this market, but don't put them in the same boat as equals at this point. Especially with that phoned in stop gap "new" Expedition that is hitting the market now.

It probably wouldn't be that expensive for Chrysler to do and it would be awesome.

They were. A friend of mine had one back in the 80s. We use to ride up to Baltimore to see the Orioles in it on weekends. I don't remember whether or not it was 4WD but it was no different in size than a Bronco or K5 Blazer.
