Okay, the real Quad Cities are in Iowa and Illinois. When you say Quad Cities that's where the name recognition will almost always be.

I think it sounds awesome, but I never hear anyone use it(maybe once or twice for something). It's always the Greater San Antonio area. Good to know it has another name.

That sucks.
What I find funny is that most cities have one nickname from locals and another from outsiders.

Orlando: O-Town, Magic Country (usually during playoffs), Central Florida
Tampa/St.Pete/Clearwater: Tampa Bay or just Tampa
Miami: South Florida, 305, Wade County, Gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, SoBe (specifically for SOuth BEach)

Then every coastal area in Florida has a name associated with it:
Treasure Coast
Space Coast
First Coast
Gold Coast
Gulf Coast
Emerald Coast
Sun Coast (formerly Pirate Coast)
Lee Island Coast
Nature Coast
Forgotten Coast
