[quote=Drover;20658487]Imagine that -- if you drive along a major commercial street, you see -- wait for it -- centers of commerce. I mean, really -- how strange is that?
Last time I was in Chicago (this past winter) I was really impressed with the quanitity and quality of high-rise residential buildings. Quite a few are clustered near the lake, for obvious reasons... but there are quite a few of them, no doubt. In fact it reminded me of the way Toronto looks these days, but with nicer architecture.

Well that's a very interesting interpretation of the facts. And by that I mean "completely nonsensical interpretation."
Ok, so according to you, the Census is lying, and there really aren't 50,000 more Chicagoans living in single family homes as compared to apartment buildings?
Ok, I guess. Whatever floats your boat.
To me, I'm actually being VERY fair, if not too fair. Most 20 unit buildings won't be highrises, or even midrises. But I'm including all 20 unit buildings in the highrise/midrise category, just in case (because we don't really know if it's 50%, 30% or whatever).
