Which city do you think a 20 something African American male would feel more comfortable in? (Nightlife, School, etc.)

Birmingham or Pittsburgh?

Birmingham is over 70% black, is home to some of the richest African-American culture in America, has an HBCU, etc.

As a matter of fact, The Magic City Classic between Alabama A&M and Alabama State will be in Birmingham this Saturday. There will be lots of events going on just for that all weekend. Does PITT have anything of that magnitude for young adult AA's??

I'd feel more comfortable in Birmingham.
In regards to women, clubbing, black heritage, etc. it's like a Baby ATL, and if that's not enough for you then the proximity to ATL itself is a plus. (About 2 hrs)

Birmingham, of course. In the city, it has over 70% of blacks. In the metro, it has about 30%. I'm an Alabama A&M student, and the Magic City Classic weekend is off the chain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However, this weekend isn't the only weekend that Birmingham is LIVE. Also, blacks are everywhere in Birmingham. In Hoover, where the black percentage is around 10%, it feels like a whole lot of blacks live there.

Whoever said neither doesn't know anything!

Also, because you are a "big kid" and is looking for a black atmosphere, Miles, an HBCU, has activities for young people as well as UAB, a predominately white school with a large black population.

Pittsburgh like the rest of Northeast cities doesnt invest/glamorize heavily in the stereotypical black culture....

The best City for that is ATL....I've never been to Birmingham, so I can't say if its better or not.

Whether you find that good or bad, its totally up to the person....

Schools - I mean Pitt, CMU, RMU, Point Park, Duquense are hard to beat..

Nightlife - Pittsburgh had plenty and it has its "Black" establishments, but again it's not a place "Thugs" would call paradise.

"Black entertainment" does immediately mean " thug " entertainment. Lets not start this.

Pittsburgh is not like the rest of Northeast cities.
New York has the largest black population in the country.
Philadelphia, Baltimore, and D.C. (aka Chocolate City) also have among the largest Black populations in the country.

Black establishment does not equal thug paradise (although I'm sure most cities with large Black populations have their hole in the walls).
