Can't speak for WashingonDC but the music venues look impressive. I do know that Los Angeles has a tremendous amount of talent that both live and perform here. Plus, I think LA is the capital of outdoor concerts. And the nearby Coachella festival in Indio is probably the single largest event of its kind in the nation.
This is a joke right? DC has a TERRIBLE music scene!
outside of the 9:30 club which might be one of the best venues in the country. There are a few smaller places that are ok, but very few. Yeah DC gets the big tours, but every big city gets those.
Ill give you it has gotten better in the last few years with H st. and U st. coming up. But its still far behind other cities its size.
Its easier to name cities that size that don't have a better music scene.
I think what the OP is trying to say is that DC probably has the most live music venues Monday through Sunday hands down.
Without looking at any real, hard statistics...I think I can confidently say New York would probably have more live music venues Monday through Sunday. Like, probably a lot more. Odds are Chicago and Los Angeles do too. If for no other reason than they are much larger cities.
Go-go isn't played in other cities? Or you're saying no other city is known as the origin of a particular musical style? Uh... like Chicago blues? Seattle grunge? Nashville country?
So are you trying to make comparisons based on audience attendance figures? That's not the only metric of a healthy musical scene, IMO.
Seems the thread should have been in a music forum, "Let's hear it for go-go (discuss)". But if you're topic is city vs. city for music scenes, not just go-go, then DC doesn't come out on top.
GoGo isn't played in other cities? LOL....so let's see

Well I was hoping I didn't have to do this but I guess people really have no clue! There are more GoGo bands in D.C. than actual performing bands in every city really! LOL this is hilarious.... These bands can be seen every week somewhere in the city. So here are most of the GoGo bands in D.C. from Gospel GoGo, to Jazz GoGo, to R&B GoGo, to Bounce Beat GoGo, to Traditional GoGo:

Here are all the clubs/venues in and around D.C. that host bands on any given night 7 days a week for every age group. Some shows are even all ages welcome and others are 21 and over. Many GoGo bands perform at pools a few times during the summer. If a city can match this, I would like to see the facts:

You seem to not know what a question mark means. As in my question, "Go-go isn't played in other cities?" That is not a statement or claim.
I was questioning what you meant by:
"The D.C. area is the only city in the U.S. that has it's own music form called "GoGo".
Because it was hard to believe you were asserting that DC is the only city known for a particular musical style, and likewise hard to believe if you were stating that DC is the only city with go-go.

My mistake. I was just educating everyone really because most people on here probably don't know anything about GoGo.

Well I'm certainly not going to go through your entire list to contest what you posted...but a few things that caught my eye are:
The Bethesda Comedy Club...which appears to be a comedy club in Bethesda, Maryland. Not a club in Washington DC.
Above that is a Best Western in Lanham, Maryland. Doesn't exactly sound like a spot for live music or a "hot spot"...it's also not in Washington DC.
Wow Wingery is a chicken wing place in Foggy Bottom.
Tom's Kitchen appears to be a buffet restaurant in Clinton, MD.
Lincoln Park Community Center is...um...a community center in Rockville, MD.
I think you should re-check your list, because right now it seems to be a pretty bad fail.
Also, take into account that I'm not insulting Washington DC by saying it doesn't offer as much live music as New York City...it's NEW YORK CITY. The only forumers that seem to be more uptight than the New Yorkers (at least when they're compared to London) are the DC ones.
My mistake. I was just educating everyone really because most people on here probably don't know anything about GoGo.
Have you considered most people here don't care about GoGo either?
You came on here asking if any city can match DC for live music...but then your only reason is because you keep saying THE GOGO SCENE IS FAHKIN HUUUUUGE ... as if that somehow disqualifies all others.
