Very true. It's really the only speck of civilization along I-85 between Durham and Petersburg/Richmond.

There are some studies that suggest this could be inevitable. I wouldn't care one way or another. I like the Sothern mega-region as it is.

If Florence, SC was bigger, I would say at least near the size of Fayetteville then you could probably establish a connection with Myrtle Beach especially if I-20 was extended to Myrtle Beach.
