What would Las Vegas be without gambling? Somebody please tell me. Vegas to me is a one-dimensional theme park surrounded by tract homes. Honestly, I'd rather live in El Paso, because THAT is 10 times more of a city than Las Vegas. Los Angeles is a living, breathing and yes, thriving city with culture, class, tradition and a real identity all it's own despite what the 89 trillion naysayers on this site like to think.

While I am not a huge fan of LA, LA wins this one hands down. LA has so much to offer in almost every aspect except gambling which Vegas would win. Vegas is a fun place to visit, but to live? I think I rather live in BooFoo.

Los Angeles HANDS DOWN.

LA also has world class universities, museums, cultural attractions, etc. Las Vegas is easily one of the absolute worst cities Ive ever been to. I guess if you like being stuck in an eternal slot machine, it's your type of city, but no thanks.

Why do so many Angelinos go to Vegas on weekend trips? I prefer visiting San Francisco rather than Las Vegas, especially during the summer!

There are some things you can do in the Bay Area that you can't do in "libertarian" Nevada.

Vegas. Many of the homes in the high end Vegas suburbs are some of the most incredible I've ever seen. Many of you have never been beyond the Strip. There are lots of dynamic cultures and things to see outside of the Strip.

I like Vegas, don't get me wrong, but LA is a whole 'nother animal.

If money is not an object...Los Angeles. Can there be any question? Actually Las Vegas is the eastern suburb of Los Angeles. If you are an academician...or a tech geek...LA. If you work for a living...Las Vegas. Los Angeles really can't touch Las Vegas as an entertainment venue. Simply too spread out and to diverse. The strip is a singular accomplishment. The ocean leads to cool gray weather. The sun shines not until the afternoon from June to October. The really nice climate is on Catalina...not the mainland. The nice pictures of the bikini clad lakies with the mountains in the background are made on cool winters days. Sometimes the ladies suck ice to avoid showing their breath. Los Angeles is nice in many dimensions...so is Las Vegas...and for other than the well off LV offers the better deal.

To visit my nieces and nephews. I'm not a gambler but the strip is fun to see. Plus we took a ride off of the strip and discovered the african american part of Vegas. Never thought a black section of town existed, but indeed it does.
