I agree it wont "resemble it" But after Chicago it will be the closet thing. Who knows maybe even start to give Chicago a run for its money if growth continues. I am really hoping for legalize gambling this state session. But also hoping the State and not the county or city controls the whole system and decides who can get casinos etc..

Legalize gambling? I though gambling in Florida was already legalized. What about all the Hardrock Casinos in Florida? Specifically the giant Hardrock Casino in Hollywood FL.

Thos are indian casinos. Indian reservations are their own sovereign state so they have the right to have casinos. Also some machines and poke are legal at places like horse racing tracks. What I am talking about is Las Vegas style casinos. Not too many of them though. It will give the state a huge boost and Miami will grow even more and the downtown core will be much better if the planned casino resort is made.

I haven't been in the city vs city forum in ages and I see we are still having tired "sprawl" debates. Some things never change.

Would like to have some of you engineering experts explain how the city of MIAMI -- built on what's essentially a giant SANDBAR -- could ever have a mass of buildings to rival MANHATTAN which is supported by SOLID ROCK?

It will NEVER in a MILLION years look like Manhattan. And I hope it never does to be quite honest. Let Miami stay unique.

Miami will never rival Manhattan, at least it doesn't look like it will in the next 40 years or longer.

The same way Miami presently has the 3rd largest skyline in the country by sheer number of buildings. The city of Miami is a mere 34 square miles and the skyline doesn't stop at the city borders it goes on to the suburbs like Miami Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, Aventura, West Palm Beach, Pompano Beach, Hollywood, Boca Raton, Hallandale Beach, North Miami, Bal Harbour, and so on and so forth.

Miami isn't about Miami anymore, Miami is simply the brand name city of South Florida, our area's correct moniker is Southeast Florida. We are one the same way Oakland, San Jose, and San Francisco are one under the moniker Bay Area.
