San Jose is VASTLY safer than D.C. Why would I want to change that subject?

You didn't mention San Jose because it refutes your erroneous assertion that D.C's poverty rate is the same as every other major city (between 16-25%). You are wrong, not every major city has a poverty rate so high, as evidenced by... San Jose!

Sorry, genius, try again. But this time, try to be stupid about it, maybe you'll manage to be correct.

San Jose shouldn't want to be on DC's level, who wants to lower their station?
san jose has a smaller population then dc but dc is more recognized then san jose. pretty sad huh?

Not really, lots of people know about Baghdad, too. Notoriety is the term you're looking for.

Why would you ever make this argument? Other than being the nation's capital, DC is mainly renowned for its crime. DC is a good representation of urban America... despite being one of the richest cities in the country, it also has some of the worst poverty and crime in the country.

You are being foolish, I am talking about major cities in the country, do people have to do math for you to understand? Washington DC is a central city that has a metro that revolves around it, a 5.5 Million person metro. San Jose's MSA of 1.8 Million isn't even close.

You think it's mere coincidence that most of America's largest cities have a poverty rate between 16%-25%? Are you really trying to say San Jose is better off than even New York in that regard?

San Jose is not a major city, nor is it a big name city. It's a medium sized metro that's best compared with the likes of Portland, San Antonio, Orlando, Raleigh-Durham, Milwaukee and others not cities like Washington DC, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, New York, Los Angeles or even San Francisco.

Whatever. You can live in San Jose and brag about its benefits online all day long, at the end of the day you wont get anything out of it. The only person showing lack of intelligence here was you, comparing a city's poverty to other US States.

I know you dislike SF, but... I don't see why you added the "even".

Other than than that, I agree with you.

Two Reasons:

01. Compared to the other cities listed, the San Francisco/Oakland MSA is smaller by a good margin. Of the cities I listed the smallest is San Francisco/Oakland MSA with the next being Washington DC MSA which there is a 1.2 Million person gap.

02. To tell him that there is a difference between being affluent and rich hub city of a metro of 1.8 Million and a metro of anything more than 4 Million (rich or not). What better example than the other MSA right up the road from San Jose?

San Francisco's poverty rate while not as stark with it being near 12% is still higher than San Jose's. San Francisco the city itself has more high net worth individuals than does San Jose. Poverty rate means nothing in the long term for any major city so long as they aren't excessively above comparable peers.

Washington DC with that in mind is not, it's poverty rate is directly comparable to Los Angeles, Chicago, & Houston. Three major cities elsewhere in the country.

Oh, excuses, excuses, excuses. San Jose is the 10th largest city in the United States. Sorry, kiddo. You're wrong, I'm right. Get used to it.

Yeah, but nobody hates us enough to fly planes into our buildings. Suckah.

Oh and yes, San Jose is better. Once you go see the Lion King on Broadway, New York just doesn't have much to offer, except making you feel really grimy and sticky by the end of the day.
