Those people are called tourists. They are not from Miami. I live in South Beach and drive a Volkswagen. Many people in South Beach either drive a beater or don't have a car. Many of the super expensive cars you see around South Beach are driven by part time residents from other cites. They come to Miami to flaunt. The reality is that Miami is has a very large working/service class population. The majority of Miami's residents are hard working folks with very little pretention.

Because without Boston the U.S. would simply be another Canada.

Not true.

Houston is far from being pretentious. Its the most real city in Texas, right up there with Fort Worth & San Antonio.

Now Dallas & Austin...

Houston embraces anyone & everyone with open arms no matter what your skin color or bank account looks like.

It's because we're better than everyone at everything.

I'll just replace the word "pretentious" with the word "smug".

The most "smug" cities are in no particular order:
- San Francisco
- New York
- Seattle
- Boston
- Portland

That's my list anyway.

I don't think it matters whether your a tourist or a local. The tourists make Miami pretentious is my point.
