Which US city has the best Mexican food? What makes it different from Mexican food offered somewhere else? Are there different variations or different regional Mexican cuisines offered in the restaurants in the city of your choice? Also feel free to mention any particular Mexican restaurant that you like.
San Diego
Los Angeles
Bay Area
Phoenix/Tucson
Albuquerque/Santa Fe
El Paso
San Antonio
Houston
Dallas
New York

any of the border cities is the BEST... San Diego will have a diff style than Albuquerque or San Antonio, etc though... definitely not Chicago or New York, there might be a few good restaurants but overall as far as taquerias, street food go and all across the spectrum, no way.
NY? I know NYC is a culinary paradise, but Mexican food? I'm sure because of it's size, you can find good Mexican here and there, but there are other cities that are worthy of going on that list just as much if not before NYC that didn't make the list.
Houston has good upscale ones and good hole in the wall ones. You can't get 500,000 new mexicans come in and not expect them to come with good food.
Would think LA would be the same. SA and Albuquerque doesn't have near as many transplants from Mexico. They have a US Brainwashed population, cooking with healthy stuff instead of the good stuff like a tub of lard

Yes it's on there, and if it wasn't I'm sure some foodie from NYC would be like why no NY on the list? Yeah, I said you might find some gems in NYC here and there. Meh, it's whatever, forget what I said. It's not as a big of a deal as I made it seem. Oh yeah, and I think Austin is a worthy of mention city that didn't make the list. El Arroyo is AWESOME.

I had the best Mexican food in New Mexico and El Paso. I really like the red and green chile peppers. Huevos Rancheros with red chile sauce, Enchiladas with green chiles, blue corn tortillas and sopapillas are excellent there. Breakfast at Tia Marias and lunch at Tomasitas, just awesome.
