i've heard over and over bad things about hartford. i have never been there, but i have traveled in connecticut. i think, by and large, it is a pretty state. the odd thing is i have read over and over about connecticuts position as the number one state for the richest households per capita income. it is also the state that has the most millionaires of any state in the union. consequently, it seems odd that this city would get such a reputation.

Connecticut has many attractive bedroom communities and suburbs (including West Hartford, and of course Greenwich, Cheshire, Westport, Old Saybrook etc...), which is where you would probably pick up on the snooty steretype. Unfortunately Connecticut's cities are worlds away from its toney suburbs. New Haven got rated 4th highest violent crime rate in 2010 (The Most Dangerous Cities In America). Bridgeport and Waterbury also are chalk full of ghettos. Hartford, well it has a shiney financial district, a very impressive statehouse and adjacent park, and a good skyline for a medium sized city. However the sidewalks roll up after 6:00 PM in downtown and much of the rest of the city has very rough neighborhoods.

Ever heard of the Mall of America (Minneapolis) or the King of Prussia Mall (Philadelphia)?
Yes I have except I would think that normally 5th Ave in NYC & Rodeo Drive in LA would come to mind before either of those would...
I mean, those would come to mind to almost everyone outside of the US before Mall of America/King of Prussia would....And plus, King of Prussia isn't even in the actual city of Philly.
But to each their own I guess...

Umm excuse me, you don't know me. I've been to over 40 states and traveled to over 30 countries all around the world. And I've only listed cities I've been to. If I think a city is boring, that is my opinion. Please elaborate on which sounds unreasonable to you.
