So does San Jose beat out Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, or Philly, or DC.

Not following you here. I went to that site and it is just a bunch of aerial pictures of San Jose's skyline and not a single pic of downtown foot traffic...

the aerial pictures will show you how dense downtown is, and that brings foot traffic.

Dt. San Jose easily beats Dt. Seattle with a cleaner, less gritty, safer, more cohesive and more compact downtown. It's even more livelier than Dt. Seattle more hours of the day. Remember, you got a major university and tons of small areas that are happening. Just visit SJ and see for yourselves. It even has a public market there, too.
