I've lived in NY, Chicago, Atlanta and Denver. I've never lived in a metropolis along the west coast. In your opionion, which seems more accepting of minorities? For an example:

Elected officials
Segregated neighborhoods
High-ranking corporate execs
Interracial couples
Street-level pulse

Not sure if you're addressing my comment. If you are, I'd be interested to hear what's the "reality".

EDIT: And Huge Foodie 215, you made onto it to my ignore list a couple dozen posts ago. Let me guess, Bay Area minorities are race traitors, asians are white and the sky is green.

SF, LA and SD(along with Miami) have the higher minority proportion of $200,000+ households than the Northeast and elsewhere.

Now, remove Asians from "minority" and you'll get a more real world, accurate depiction of where real minorities do better.

In addition, in terms of segregation, your precious Bay Area does worse than Washington DC, who's had minority mayors for decades now.

Black-White: 56.6 (Rank 29)
Hispanic-White: 48.3 (Rank 20)
Asian-White: 42.3 (Rank 14)

Ahh, that feels awesome.

Don't you love real world facts, Monty?

Let's state some reality:

The Northeast ALONE has more Black people than all of the Western States combined!
The Northeast has the most DIVERSE pool of Hispanics than any other region in the country
The Northeast has a FASTER growth rate of Asians than all of the Western States combined.

NYC area: has the 2nd largest Asian and Hispanic populations, and the 1st largest Black population in the US
DC area: is a less segregated metro area than LA area and Bay Area combined!

Wow! That was fun!

The fact that you hang on my every word makes me feel so special. Sighs.

Oh, sorry I dont discriminate against certain persons of color over others.

I guess that's a Philly thing.

Anyhow,

Average Minority Household Income, 2010
San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland $83,481
Washington-Baltimore-Northern Virginia $78,075
New York-Newark-Bridgeport $63,373
Los Angeles-Long Beach-Riverside $62,768

The Bay Area is clearly ahead of DC as far as minority income and LA is actually identical to NY. Advantage CA.

Again, the presence of HIGHLY EDUCATED ASIANS from overseas don't count the same as the descendant of slaves in the United States. Why is that so hard to understand?

In addition, do you have a problem with more minorities living in NYC (most of whom seem to be doing fine, thank you very much), or more minorities with high paying jobs in DC without having to live in the squalor of segregated neighborhoods such as East Palo Alto or Hunters Point?

I thought so.

In case you missed it, here you go:

DC segregation
Black-White: 56.6 (Rank 29)
Hispanic-White: 48.3 (Rank 20)
Asian-White: 42.3 (Rank 14)

One day, you guys may reach us

Oh and in case you don't know how to do math $63,373 is a larger number than $62,768.

LOL! Advantage Northeast.

I keep forgetting that you live in the 1800s.

Sorry. I need to take it slower.

Over here, its not just about Blacks and Whites, in fact it might scare you a little to realize that the LA Area and SF Bay Area both do NOT have a racial majority, unlike the Northeast, which is majority White.

One day you'll get there tho.
