No, not at all. From affluence of minorities to diaspora of minorities to minorities all over the region to minority billionaires, CEOs, leaders of government etc, the Bay Area is quite potent.

But the good news is diversity is spreading, one day you just might get there as well

If I were Hispanic or Asian, the stats are clear where I'd want to move and raise my family. If I were Black, I'd want to be around a region that actually has Black people (and a diverse one at that).
Yeah um, our minorities are not afraid to live together in the same neighborhood, town, city, county--hence they think less about being surrounded by people of their same color, which is not a bad thing, but in some places, you dont have to worry as much. lol

Consider apologizing to the 1,107 victims of hate crime in California in 2010:
http://ag.ca.gov/cjsc/publications/h.../preface10.pdf

Including 275 in the all tolerant, all knowing Bay Area (25% of all CA hate crimes were in the Bay Area, while only 20% of CA lives in the Bay Area)
This is because our minorities are not scared into silence. That's what happens when there is no racial majority, everyone has a voice and they use it.

One day you'll know what Im talking about.

In the meantime, keep hope alive.

And comparing DC to East-Coast and Midwest capetbagged SF and LA doesn't prove anything. Compare DC to the likes of SD, the East Bay Area, Sacramento, and Seattle.
You mean this East Bay Area that DC is less segregated than if you aren't Black?

DC metro division segregation
Black-White: 64.1 (Rank 17)
Hispanic-White: 48.1 (Rank 21)
Asian-White: 36.5 (Rank 28)

Oakland Metro Division segregation
Black-White: 56.6 (Rank 29)
Hispanic-White: 48.3 (Rank 20)
Asian-White: 42.3 (Rank 14)

Or do you mean the SF and LA, which greater metro areas pretty much make up a combined 1/2 of the West Coast's population.

DC in the city may be segregated, but the suburban counties where almost everyone else lives are some of the most diverse integrated regions in the US, beating out every single area you just mentioned. Hence why DC metro division has lower segregation scores than Oakland.

DC: the best of the south (IE: integrated black population and soon, everyone else) and northeast (diversity central in terms of ethnics)

Sorry, but as far as presence and minorities dominating vast areas of the metro regions, DC is very Black and White compared to the Bay Area.

And as far as the East Bay, unless your name is Queens or Brooklyn, you need not apply for that comparison.

Potent, but doesn't beat out DC. Did you know that DC has had a minority mayor consistently since 1967?

Getting to where you guys are means regression. Just ask Oscar Grant..oh sorry, he's dead.

Yeah, just look at how many minorities live in Orange County! Such a black paradise, lol.

This isn't only about the Bay Area. There's this huge metro area south of you that is plain out scary if you're in the wrong neighborhood. Just ask Reginald Denny. Oh wait, he's still disabled after having a brick thrown at his head 20 years ago in another one of LA's great shows of diversity.

Or these things simply don't happen on the East Coast, which is a more likely explanation.

From this view, the Bay Area seems very white. LOL look at Marin County.

And look at that wide swath of Orange about to consume the Bay Area from the East. Jesus Christ, that's scary. Unlike on the East Coast, where areas are becoming more diverse.

And statistics be damned:

DC metro division segregation
Black-White: 64.1 (Rank 17)
Hispanic-White: 48.1 (Rank 21)
Asian-White: 36.5 (Rank 28)

Oakland Metro Division segregation
Black-White: 56.6 (Rank 29)
Hispanic-White: 48.3 (Rank 20)
Asian-White: 42.3 (Rank 14)

Black-White: 56.6 (Rank 29)
Hispanic-White: 48.3 (Rank 20)
Asian-White: 42.3 (Rank 14)

Ahh, that feels awesome.

Don't you love real world facts, Monty?

Let's state some reality:

The Northeast ALONE has more Black people than all of the Western States combined!
The Northeast has the most DIVERSE pool of Hispanics than any other region in the country
The Northeast has a FASTER growth rate of Asians than all of the Western States combined.

NYC area: has the 2nd largest Asian and Hispanic populations, and the 1st largest Black population in the US
DC area: is a less segregated metro area than LA area and Bay Area combined!

Wow! That was fun!

In addition, do you have a problem with more minorities living in NYC (most of whom seem to be doing fine, thank you very much), or more minorities with high paying jobs in DC without having to live in the squalor of segregated neighborhoods such as East Palo Alto or Hunters Point?

I thought so.

In case you missed it, here you go:

DC segregation
Black-White: 56.6 (Rank 29)
Hispanic-White: 48.3 (Rank 20)
Asian-White: 42.3 (Rank 14)

One day, you guys may reach us

Oh and in case you don't know how to do math $63,373 is a larger number than $62,768.

LOL! Advantage Northeast.
I'm sorry, but how are Asians not "minority?" "Real minorities??" What? Who are real minorities then? That is a highly ignorant statement, because Asians sure as hell ain't white people. Despite what you may think, Asians still suffer disadvantages in this country compared to Caucasians and are not on equal footing. And because Asians are in the population, somehow it's not more "real world?"

Anyway, having been on both coasts and the mid west, the west coast, especially in California, is definitely more diverse, less segregated, and more accepting of all minorities.

Yes, you are not accustomed to groups other than Whites and Blacks, I know.

Compare the Asian experience to the Black or Hispanic experience in the United States. Please, Asian people are basically Whites nowadays. What discrimination do they face? What disadvantages are you talking about?

Have you seen the average Asian neighborhood vs. average Black/Hispanic neighborhood? When do the cops ever harass Asian people?

Statistically and categorically incorrect.

Tell Oscar Grant about the "acceptance of all minorities"
Tell Rodney King about the "more acceptance" from the LAPD?

Or why don't you tell gangbangers like this about your idea of segregation in California:

Gangland - Race Wars ( history channel ) Part 1/3 - YouTube (/watch?v=K83XsJew3kQ - broken link)

Gangland - Race Wars ( history channel ) Part 2/3 - YouTube (/watch?v=uUwnXRcRj0g&feature=relmfu - broken link)

Gangland Race Wars history channel Part 3/3 - YouTube (/watch?v=dWUSqifnz74&feature=relmfu - broken link)

You live in SoCal. You should visit the family of the little girl in Harbor Gateway and tell her about the "acceptance" that she experienced from the Mexicans.

You will never see a series like that written about NYC, Philadelphia, Chicago, DC, Houston, Miami, Atlanta, etc. etc.

Except I grew up in Queens and went to Francis Lewis HS: we have plenty of Hispanics and Asians here. I know you are in denial about that, but they don't just live in California anymore.

Jesus is all this even necessary

What makes it even more confusing why a guy from Philly is arguing the diversity of DC area to SF Bay?

Minority groups are more dominant over a far larger land mass than what we normally find in the Northeast as well.
