Denver is not a destination city. Its a place people fly to in order to ski. The reason it's growing is the fact that it's an immensely liveable city with relatively low taxes, decent schools, and beautiful mountains. The city itself is unimportant except for the major business and commerce and major transportation hub all located within the metro area.
The shopping and culture are, in other words, a very marginal part of what makes Denver Denver.
And once again you would be WRONG as usual trying to portray Denver for what it is not.Must be getting tired of telling people about Denver from the mid-west. Denver's Cherry Creek North known as THE Rodeo Drive of the Rockies where I used to live and sell real estate is a destination shopping HUB with fine restaurants, galleries, spas ect. There are many second homes for Californian's,resort dwellers, artists ect. While other cities struggle to survive Cherry Creek continues to pump out new multi million dollar homes, condos, flats. Tourist are welcomed with six bike share kiosks within three square miles, the farmers market, several 10k run events..ect. That is only one neighborhood.
Now that you've nitpicked photos for San Diego, how about showing a picture of Denver at its best? You know, with the mountains (that blow San Diegos away imo) and when the city is actually green?
But Denver isnt green half the year. SD is lush year round with beauty. The mountains you mention are only to the west, to the east is a graveyard of dead plains.
THAT'S the real San Diego....more surface parking lots than any other city in the entire US. Sort of looks like Phoenix if it were on a coast, doesn't it?
Now for some real pics of Denver (from THIS decade):
As you can see, this game of posting ugly pictures of one city and posting beautiful pictures of another city can be played by both sides. I have yet to see one San Diego booster post an actual photo of Denver from this decade. Take away all the fancy photoshopping and photo enhancements and San Diego looks just as ugly as any other city in the US. Also, saying San Diego is in another class of city just because it's on a coast is ridiculous. I've been to both cities and I can tell you that the actual city of Denver feels MUCH larger. If going by urban fabric alone, Denver is tiers above San Diego.

Reason: 3rd picture of Denver was too small so I put another photo up.

While areas near the coast stay green year round I wouldn't exactly call it "lush" considering it only gets around 10 inches of rain per year. Inland is only green in winter and some of spring, the rest of the year it's pretty dry and brown looking. I still think it's more scenic than the city of Denver but "lush" really isn't the best word to describe its landscape.

Thanks for keeping it real on here, I mean come on talk about reverse airbrushing Denver. I was going to actually shoot a couple of skyline photos myself this AM with my phone to show how ridiculous those attempts at downgrading Denver were.

LOL! Good pics. It kind of glamourizes Denver, but those pictures are real.
San Diego is better looking then that, but you proved your point well.
San Diego, California urban area 2,956,746
Denver, Colorado urban area 2,374,203
San Diego, California urban area density 4,037.0 PP/SQM
Denver, Colorado urban area density 3,554.4 PP/SQM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...es_urban_areas
On another note. Your first two pictures of Denver were beautiful!
San Diego has a density of 4,003/sq mi and Denver has a density of 3,874.4/sq mi. Denver's current density figure includes the large swath of virtually unpopulated land northeast of the city that was annexed to the city proper when DIA was built. This humongous parcel of land affects the actual density of the city so much so that it's actually pointed out on Denver's wiki page...and I quote "Without the 80249 zip code (47.3 sq mi, 8,407 residents) near the airport, the average density increases to around 5,470 per square mile." Denver IS more dense than San Diego.

The 3rd picture of Denver that was originally posted has been replaced because it was too small...but you get my point
