Believe it or not, there are some really cool neighborhoods in and around In-town Atlanta. As far as being up there on the list of cities with character in the U.S., well, that's a different story.

I'm going with the New Orleans bandwagon. I'd also like to second Savannah.

I left out San Francisco.

I'd say it's a tie between New York, New Orleans, and San Francisco.

New York, New Orleans, San Francisco, San Antonio, Boston, and Philadelphia have the most character. The rest to a much lesser degree.

I think that New Orleans is a clear cut champion in this. Next tier is probably between San Francisco and Boston. Third tier I would include NY and Philadelphia.

I love a lot of these cities, and many of them definitely have character, but ounce for ounce NOLA beats them all, in my opinion.

Ugh, I don't get the whole New Orleans craziness!

The nightlife is low quality, city is small, crime through the roof and it's located in a swamp. Whatever, I guess everyone has their opinion. I voted for New York but Miami, DC and SF are good backups.

I voted for New York. I can agree with New Orleans too, though. I'd also like to mention Santa Fe. Savannah and San Francisco would be on my list as well. There obviously are also many small and ghost towns in America that have lots of character.
