L.A. is almost similar to New York in that you have other large metropolitan areas competing with them along their respective coasts! New York has Boston, Philly and DC while L.A. has San Fran, San Diego, and Seattle! Chicago is the only metropolis of the midwest, maybe Minneapolis/St. Paul could challenge Chicago if the metro population grew to more than 4 million! If Detroit didnt have such a drastic fall, they would easily be a competitor to Chicago as being influential in the midwest!

If I had thought about it, after reading my post, I should have voted for Chicago instead of voting that both Chicago and L.A. both had equal influence on their regions!

As much as I love Minneapolis area, not going to happen. By the way, the Chicago metro area has 9.5 million people while Minneapolis has about 3.5 million.

Chicago is far and away the most dominant city in its region, whereas the Bay Area can compete with LA when it comes to the West Coast.
