Texas could easily leave. Heck, it thinks it is its own country anyways, so great! Let's make it that way.
I've also always liked the idea of Ohio, Michigan, Upstate NY, New England, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Western PA leaving and forming its own country, as well, or just joining Canada.
I can see that when you look at a map, but from what I can tell politically/culturally it's not much like Canada and it was also never a part of Canada.
Plus I think Alaska is too conservative for Canada's more liberal govt
If you get rid of those areas, you are getting rid of the states that built this country into what it is. The industries in those states helped the North to win the Civil War.......not to mention the wars that followed. People in those states were/are innovators and many companies wouldn't be part of america if those states didn't exist. Also, the US would be missing out on the contributions of Rockefeller (cleveland), Carnegie (pittsburgh), Ford (Detroit), Firestone (columbiana, ohio), etc.
I hate when people forget how great the rust belt once was. These states were/are the leaders in auto, steel, rubber, polymers, medicine (cleveland clinic), engineering, oil, etc). Trust me, after the sunbelt gets too expensive and runs out of water, the Rust Belt will be the place everyone moves back to. We've got lots of land, real estate, water and other natural resources that people need.

None. USA needs all 50 of them, they're all important in their own respect, and each bring something unique to the table.
