I grew up in Chicago and loved every second. Yet, I would take San Diego in a heartbeat. I lived there for a couple of years--until I almost went broke and had to move. But if you can afford it...
Seattle is very nice, if you can take all of the dark days. I vacationed there once.
No thoughts on Philly, other than I would not want to live there before I would the other three.
My final order: 1. San Diego; 2. Chicago; 3. Seattle; 4. Philly.

Is san diego more expensive than chicago ?
