Which region do you think offers a better quality of life all around?
By "Pacific Northwest," I am specifically referring to western Washington and Oregon. By "New England," I am specifically referring to the states of CT, MA, RI, NH, VT and ME.

I have lived in New England almost my entire life (CT) and there are pros and cons. But I am interested in hearing the perspectives and opinions of those who have lived in BOTH regions. I have visited WA and OR and thought they were absolutely stunning, but haven't lived in them.

What happened to Vermont?! Or, for that matter, Idaho?!
I think the quality of life in the PNW is second to none. However, I do like New England quite a bit. All that history, and nice scenery to boot. I have lived in the former, not the latter.

Oops, sorry, I just edited my original post to include VT!
I am excluding Idaho, because I wanted to focus on a land area that is similar in size to New England. Including ID would be too much. Besides, I have been to Boise and don't really consider it as part of the PNW. It feels more like part of the Mountain West.
That's irrelevant. It's good to get fresh, new perspectives, as times change and different people may chime in. Also, my original post may have a different pitch than previous posts on this topic.
I'd say New England. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I think there are a lot of problems here. It's definitely not the utopian hippie paradise people think it is. Traffic is terrible, the weather sucks, the people are not friendly, the economy is awful outside of Seattle, way too much drug abuse and human trafficking, mediocre food. I could go on.

Really? When I was up there on vacation last month, I was very impressed. Amazingly beautiful landscape and scenery. I haven't interacted with any people, however, so I can't speak for that. The traffic in the Seattle area was HORRIBLE, though. I got stuck on I-5 South from Seattle down toward Portland (I was on a road trip), during rush hour. It took like 90 minutes just to travel like 20 miles.
You're probably right about the economy though. It seems like the ONLY good economy in that region is Seattle.
