Both states have a lot in common- only states not connected to any other state, the two most recent states, arguably the most unique states, and arguably the most beautiful.
Here is the general criteria although you can add your own too.

Scenery
Weather/Climate
Things to do

Also the only States without interstate highways. I think Alaska is the most beautiful place I've ever lived. Hawaii was very nice too, but I'm more for the wilderness, fishing, hunting, etc. Plus I don't care for hot windy climates.
I like both but Hawaii is my preference. I hate Alaskan weather--too cold for WAY too long. Both are very beautiful but I think Hawaii more so because I am just a big fan of all things tropical/beachy.
Can't choose a winner here. Both are GREAT! Have been to both several times and love them each. I find a surprising number of similarities.....example, the artwork of the natives....lots of similarities.
Alaska for better scenery, changing weather, not being landlocked, and the fact that the natives dont hate you.
Landlocked?
I think you mean to say Hawaii is surrounded only by ocean. lol. Also, sorry to hear your experience with the natives was bad...but not all of them are like this. Growing up, my dad (who's White) never had that problem. Maybe you were in a not-so-great area when you went; most of the racist Natives tend to live in bad areas.

Thank you for pointing that out (the "landlocked" thing), I didnt word it properly.

I've never had a problem with native Hawaiians, in fact they were quite welcoming in my experience.
Anyway, I love both as they both have a lot of magic and are incredible destinations that don't get a lot of discussion here on C-D. I've been to Alaska three times though its been several years. Alaska is a magnificent place with unbelievable mountains that no place in the lower 48 could remotely compare to. It has incredible fishing (unparalleled really), and wilderness experiences that can change your perspective on things.
However if I had to choose between the two, I'd go with Hawaii as I love to snorkel, paddle board, fresh Hawaiian fruit and garden produce, amazing seafood/sushi and I haven't yet been to Kauai yet which is still on my bucket list. Id really like to hike the Napali Coast. Hawaii's warm inviting beauty, magic, and intriguing culture makes it one of those places I could keep going back to again and again.
