I have narrowed my search on where to retire to Payson, AZ or Lake Mary,FL (near Orlando). I'm 66 retired and single. I like being outside and riding my Harley. I have lived in NY all my life and can't take another winter here. I just responded to a post on the Orlando forum to a person who compared AZ living to FL living and did an outstanding job of convincing me of where to move.
Any comments would be appreciated.

have you visited Payson yet?.....

will be a bit cold at night in the winters and a couple snow events, but not heavy.....occasional hot days in the summer, but pleasant nights....no daylight savings time observed here.....

warmer, but more humid, in the winter in Florida....

Have lived in both. Arizona wins hands down for motorcycle riding. It's not even a close comparison. Florida is flat boring and too hot 6-9 months out of the year. In arizona there is so much change in elevation you can comfortably ride somewhere year round. Not to mention the superior scenery of Arizona to Florida. Pay son winters, even flagstaff winters will be extremely mild and sunny compared to NY winters. Good luck and forget about florida even being an option.

No contest if you like riding. Florida is flat, has too many bugs, and it's way too crowded to enjoy yourself without having to drive a long distance to get away from people. The high country is practically deserted, with a few exceptions. Plus Payson is much more dry, and colder in winter. But the sun shines so much that the occasional cloudy days and rain or a little snow are actually enjoyable, IMO.

Plus you get the option to drive a short distance and get into either warmer or cooler weather easily. We have a great variety in Arizona, all except for water. If you are one of those people who needs a big body of water nearby, it's not for you. Otherwise, it probably is.

Can't blame you for wanting to get out of NY.
