which of these pairings seem to be the most homogenous ?
(i was going to add la/san fran, dallas/houston, seattle/portland but i figured i'd get a lot of wtf's from west coasters responding to this thread; what do you think ?)
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth are about 4 hours apart with barely anything in between, they are not a pair at all. The connection between the two might as well be the connection between Los Angeles and DFW in that DFW handles a lot of freight from both Houston and LA.

maybe its my east coast bias but i was pairing dallas and houston because they are the biggest cities in the biggest state; the same way la and san fransisco are the biggest cities in the biggest state (actually alaska is the biggest state <@). i feel like fort worth isnt really a big city ?
seems like consensus is leaning towards minneapolis/st. paul. the main reason i voted for dc/baltimore is because i feel like tourists in dc would be willing to drive half an hour to check out baltimore (more so than nyc tourists are willing to drive an hour and a half to check out philly). do a lot of minneapolis tourists make their way to st. paul ?

everytime they get on or off a plane at the MSP airport
This is a pretty silly poll. The Twin Cities are the only pairing that form a continuous urban core among the options.
its hard to ascertain an urban density map but google maps kinda' helps. i notice that saint paul is actually bigger than minneapolis (i wouldve assumed the opposite). also there is a city called little canada in st. paul (all the restaurants must serve canadian bacon -- that alone is worth a trip).
i assume the kansas cities form a urban core too ?
