This is highly debatable. Saying LA is a distant second is not credible.

8-mile is kinda' a classic ?
what else is there ?i've only seen atl and drumline but i hesitate to call them classics. theres also medea movies (which ones should i consider)
The "classic" thing wasn't in the original post so I'm not sure where that came from...and wasn't the poll added later because I didn't see it before. It was just about movies where the city is an important character, and ATL and Drumline both display Atlanta very well - but definitely aren't classics in my book.

theres only a few that i've heard of from the st louis/ cleveland/ dallas/ savannah suggestions.
All of those Savannah movies are big ones...The Last Song is a chick flick with Miley Cyrus and Greg Kinnear that I didn't see, but Nicholas Sparks is a popular writer that has done several similar love story-type movies and it did really well at the box office in 2010. The Legend of Bagger Vance was the golf movie with Will Smith and Matt Damon, and Gator was in 1975 with Burt Reynolds so that may be too old for you. The others I don't think need any explanation do they? (Forrest Gump, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil).
They are all pretty solid suggestions for Savannah.

That list for LA isn't at all comprehensive, but NYC does have the edge with prewar films, so it probably wins overall. LA narrows the gap considerably in the postwar war, especially if you factor indie/B movies.
thanks for the insite but the mighty ducks i assumed was based in l.a. because of the hockey team. aside from fargo none of them scream twin cities (and thats because of the name).
Juno does, but it does it in a way that people who aren't familiar with the Twin Cities don't realize exists. If you live here it comes off as a very Twin Cities movie in the way it portrays the culture and feel of the place. The characters in Juno are fictional portrayals of hundreds of people I know, to a tee. It is quintessentially Minneapolis.
Purple Rain was also a very Minneapolis film in its time but it portrays a version of Minneapolis that no longer exists.
I agree about the rest.
