I'm looking to move to a city in order to break into the film industry (crew). I have the choice of New Orleans or Atlanta. Based on what I can afford and those are the nearest big cities where a lot of films are shot. I don't know which is the best decision for me. Which is safer, cheaper, more abundance of films, better weather. I did live in New Orleans before Katrina so its an easier move given I still have family there. But I don't want to go through another Katrina and Atlanta offers a new adventure. Any Ideas?

The cuts placed on Louisiana's filming incentives have made the future of big productions here quite uncertain.
You also mentioned affordability as a factor. Its worth noting that New Orleans is becoming increasingly expensive...many here are being priced out. Atlanta is significantly cheaper.
While you may be more familiar with this city, I would not recommend it for your career path as a place to live at this moment.
The amount of film and TV work available in Atlanta right now is mind boggling. There are not enough people to fill all the jobs. Studio space is at a premium and sound stages can't be built fast enough. The industry is planting deep roots in Georgia and by all appearances, it's only going to get bigger. Atlanta is the place to be.

Atlanta is not significantly cheaper...get real. The French Quarter may be expensive, but that's about it.
Atlanta is the best spot, it's like everywhere you go now something is being film and you'll have to go through a detour.Last week, I saw Jamie Fox Filming in the hood...LOL

Ok, let me get real. I could either pointlessly argue with a random poster who doesn't live here and has no clue how expensive housing is becoming in New Orleans...or I could simply invite the OP and anyone interested to simply compare the 2 housing markets on Craigslist or Zillow.
...yea I'll go with the latter
Atlanta gives more house for the money. Clearly.
