Miami would be more interesting for the first few months IMO, but chose Las Vegas mainly because it is reasonably close to people I know in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. Don't know anyone in or near Florida. LV's food/restaurant scene has improved significantly. There is also no state income tax. With the exception of the LV casino strip, there is less traffic than Miami. They have an NHL hockey team now and the NFL Raiders will play there in two years. Lake Mead and Mt. Charleston are nearby. Both cities have miserable summers IMO.

Orlando, FL or Reno, NV?
Orlando... it's more interesting to me and I prefer the proximity to Tampa/Miami area.
Bethesda, MD. I really like DC and it's metro area.
Charleston, SC or New Orleans, LA?
Charleston easily. It's above sea level, much safer and less blighted, and has a far stronger long term growth trajectory. The metro areas are still far apart in population (New Orleans is larger) but are steadily converging.
Battle Creek. I love the smell of Honey Bunches of Oats.
Woodside, CA or New Canaan, CT?
New Canaan's not bad, but I'll take Woodside due to it's proximity to San Francisco. Woodside is only 40mins from San Francisco whereas New Canaan is 80 mins from NYC. Plus it would be better for my job.
Pittsburgh, PA or Richmond, VA?
