Yes, but in this case, the City of San Francisco is wealthier and better educated than most it's suburbs.

Furthermore, I dont think it's much of an issue really because I'm comparing like sized areas whose jurisdictional lines are not really relevant when it comes to the visitor/resident experience, in other words, it doesnt matter once your there seeing what it's like with your own two eyes.

I'm simply giving a demographic profile describing what that experience would be like.

And it's clear that the San Francisco Urban Area which is similar in size and population to the City of LA, is really much nicer overall, and more apt to attract educated and affluent folks, which it does, and this affects overall prestige.

Prestige doesn't equal money.

Why don't you read the definition and try to learn something.

Nor does poverty.

Persons below the poverty line, 2014
Los Angeles City 862,827...22.4% of the Population
San Francisco-Oakland UA 399,874...11.7% of the Population

Money must be factored into determining prestige because it's expensive to live in prestigious places, no?

LOL

Anyhow, attitudes on a host of things are so different between LA and SF.

Persons Earning $75,000+ Who commute via public transportation:
San Francisco-Oakland UA 108,711
Los Angeles City 7,540

Median Earnings of workers who commute via public transportation:
San Francisco-Oakland UA $47,572
Los Angeles City $16,675

Downtown San Francisco is the most prestigious urban environment on the West Coast by far, and is booming with development and expansion.
