If your only choices are really NYC and LA, then you first need to decide whether you want urban or suburban. The UES is extremely urban, while Beverly Hills is suburban. They don't really share similarities outside of the fact that both are rich. Even the nature of the wealth is quite different.
Are you Persian? Bev Hills is probably almost half Persian at this point. If you are a Persian Jew then there's no more ideal place. The closest NYC comparison to Bev Hills would probably be Great Neck, which is also probably around half Persian these days (and, in both cases, we're talking Persian Jews exclusively).
Oh, and public schools are excellent in both Bev Hills and UES. No issues whatsoever.
Good schools can be found in most wealthy areas.
What I abhor is the thought of vapid, spoiled, entitled, dysfunctional classmates whose shallowness might rub off on my kids.
Sure that can happen anywhere, but these 2 locations have actually had tv shows about rich teens lives who live there.
And to that I say NO THANK YOU.
How about something more 'normal', less gaudy, less flashy, more kid friendly.
Id rather raise kids in a La Canada Flintridge or South Pasadena or on Long Island or like a nicer area in the outer boroughs.
