2010
Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area: 2,356,285
Richmond Metropolitan Area: 1,208,101

2014
Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area: 2,355,968
Richmond Metropolitan Area: 1,260,029

4 Year Change
Pittsburgh: -317
Richmond 51,928

1 Year Average
Pittsburgh: -79
Richmond: 12,982

2050 at current rate:
Pittsburgh: 2,353,283
Richmond: 1,701,417

2100 at current rate:
Pittsburgh: 2,350,833
Richmond: 2,350,517

Even if Richmond kept up its current growth, and Pittsburgh happened to not gain 1 resident in the next 84 years, it will STILL not be bigger.

Pittsburgh metro IS shrinking, Richmond metro IS growing, thanks for the stats. BTW it was never stated that RVA would be BIGGER.

You are aware that there is no 2014 census, right? That's an estimate. A difference of 317 people in a metro of 2.3 million is well within the margin of error. That is to say that the Pittsburgh metro is the same size it was when the last census was conducted.

Oh, you nabbed me on my delusions as well, dang.

Richmond has museums , symphony, opera, ballet, theatre etc....btw, check out VMFA i.e. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, very highly rated everywhere, largest Faberge Egg collection in the world outside Russia...whoa you say, an egg collection? Google it dude, along with the rest of RVA because you don't know much of what you speak.

Have you been to Richmond Buster or did you just touch it with your tires while driving the 95?
If you haven't been to Richmond please visit and get back to me and the others around here. The others might not be waiting with baited breath but I will.

peace out....
Haha, yes I been to Richmond several times. it doesn't seem like you've been to Pittsburgh or maybe you're confusing Bridgeville with being to Pittsburgh? still don't have an explanation for that ridiculous hipster neighborhoods comment about the Strip and Bridgevile... waiting... wating....

You clearly don't know anything about Pittsburgh, and Richmond's cultural offerings are quite far behind Pittsburgh's. But for a small southern city it is probably on the upper end of it's tier in terms of sophistication. It may be an up and coming city as of recently, but it has a long way to go, dude.

Pittsburgh's cultural institutions are probably only a hair better than Richmond's. Richmond really punches above its weight. None of Pittsburgh's museums are as good as the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. But, even if you think the cities are pretty similar I think Pittsburgh's mass transit, professional sports and international Airport bump it up a tier. It also has lower crime rates and housing costs.

Pittsburgh metro is not shrinking, and you have no evidence of this whatsoever. No matter how much Richmond grows, it would take several decades to catch Pittsburgh.

No, simply something anyone could read for themselves. Facts are facts. You have no evidence whatsoever that the Pittsburgh metro is shrinking.
