Yep
10 miles can mean 15 degrees warmer.

I know a lot of people that simply don't use heat of A/C in Oakland...
Bingo! Oakland has the best climate of any place I've ever been.

This is at the official reporting station at the Civic Center station or Airport.
Except in recent years, it's occurred annually. I don't know if the temps have reached the 100's annually, but there have been unusual heat waves for the last few years.

I live in Santa Monica for 40 yrs, no A/C ever. Wall heater unit to take chill off starting about Nov 1 thru winter months and this is 5 minutes in morning and 5 minutes at night.

Lived in SFV for 5 yrs when I bought a condo, had window A/C unit...much hotter in Valley.

Lived in San Jose for 5 yrs and more heat needed in winter months, not much but some. No A/C needed.

To me Santa Monica is Ideal.

Not correct....I lived in Arequipa, Peru for 18 months and had no climate control other than opening or closing the window and that's all that was needed.

Its not in the continental USA but it is US Territory and much closer than Hawaii.... Puerto Rico. Temperature is almost ideal if you can tolerate hurricane season. The US Virgin Islands are also right next door.

Yes, hurricanes are a problem, but they are a problem in Houston and most of the Southern United States and East coast as well.

Intellicast - San Juan Historic Weather Averages in Puerto Rico (00901)
All time in San Juan is 98 degrees which San Jose was at 10:30AM two weeks ago. Sounds ideal but Oakland's weather beats this place to the punch: 74-59 July and 61-50 Jan. More comfy here!

I've lived here in FL my whole life and still hate the weather for the most part. It sucks because I like to keep my windows and doors open when the weather does get nice but that isn't often. It's a much different experience to have everything open than to be sheltered in with the ac on constantly. At least for me anyways. Unfortunately, I make around 60k which is good enough where I live but no where near enough to move to some of these utopian cities mentioned here
