DC is on the bottom rung of US cities I would consider moving to. The people are unbearable. I much, much, much prefer Boston. But you seem to not like it, so move.

LOL...OP drops one post and rolls out...sounds like you hate Boston so not sure what there is to decide...bigger decision would be where you choose to live should you move down here...close to the DC side or close to the Bmore side?...are you looking for something more urban or suburban? Fort Meade area is suburban, would you be fine living close to work?...these are the more important questions...unless you were just trying to annoy the Boston posters

I mean there stuff to say "overrated" A lot of people come here to do a history tour. I think most of that stuff is great, the Freedom Trail, Quincy Market. As a kid I went to Plymouth Rock of a field trip and I can 100% understand why people would say "this is it".

I can understand if this or that is overrated, but the city is overrated seems strong.

Almost my buddies from graduate school and college that were from NYC, Boston, Philly and DC had a similar mindset and outlook on the world, its a very type A, fast paced part of the US. I don't think the culture will be that much different moving from Boston metro to the DC metro area. I don't like much about Baltimore, I kinda just avoided it when I lived on the East Coast.

I don't know when you graduated, but DC people don’t seem similar to me as peope from NYC/Philly/Boston. The fast-paced attitude is common in the northeast cities, not so much in DC, although people in DC do tend to be Type A. Through my undergrad and professional/grad school, there was a notable difference between people from the northeast and those from DC (MD and VA included). I am from the DC area for reference.

You might like Fort Meade. It's roughly equally distant from DC, Baltimore and Annapolis. Not a bad location, especially if you like quiet suburban neighborhoods.

Plus, it's in Maryland and that's a pretty good thing.

Howard County (specifically Columbia). Wherever area that falls under. We have been considered part of both areas growing up, although we may technically fall under Baltimore.

Stop suppressing that inner Baltimorean. Show those people in Chicago how we do... I know you have a crab cake recipe and a Ravens jersey stashed somewhere.
