Why not? What are cities that are of Nashville's caliber?

I'd argue Austin, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte, Orlando. Though it's fair if you want to exclude Dallas, Houston and Atlanta since they are significantly larger, but Nashville pushes way above it's population/weight class when it comes to caliber, I don't think anyone can argue against that.

It might be for now. Maybe. But Nashville is coming.

Nashville is no where near these metros.

Does it though? The metros with similar size to Nashville:
5 Larger
Kansas City
Columbus
Cleveland
Indianapolis
San Jose

5 Smaller
Virginia Beach
Milwaukee
Jacksonville
Oklahoma City
Raleigh

Of this list, I'd say San Jose and Raleigh are more impressive. Columbus and Cleveland are still more important than Nashville, despite the recent growth and hype.

.
Putting Orlando and Austin at the same level as Atlanta, Houston and Dallas is equally confusing.

Nashville...a region that relies mostly on corporate relocations for significance...is "coming for" a region with:
  • 3 times as many people
  • 3.5 times the population gain since 2010
  • 3rd highest number of Fortune 500 companies
  • an actual transit system with major expansions planned
  • busiest airport in the world

Okay sure, but it's going to take at least 50 years. All it takes is one market cycle to offset that momentum.

Neither I nor the OP made that assertion...so yeah...

I wasn't saying YOU did. "Huntsville_Secede" did, in stating that Nashville was of the same caliber as the listed metros.

I'm agreeing with you, in case that wasn't clear.

Interesting, shouldn't cities strive for corporate relocations? I mean this could be said for a number of cities with large corporate relocations Dallas, Atlanta, DC, etc. Doesn't corporate relocations give an indication of the desirability/livibility of an area?

Everyone on this board likes to downplay Nashville but in real life it's one of the most popular cities in America right now and has the energy and buzz that Atlanta used to have.
