DC?? You must have spent the day in jail. You should have went across the street to Baltimore, you can get what you're looking there just by visiting a strip club on the Baltimore Block, the strip club section. Hopefully what you did in DC won't stay on your record.
Miami may be a lot of things, not all of them positive, but boring? Really?!
I don't think Phoenix and Salt Lake are all that bad, either, at least not if you are into outdoor pursuits. Phoenix has quite a bit to do, if you can overlook the endlessly sprawling lookalike suburbs.
Think 2 posters here have it right - if your bored in any city you need to get out and explore. It's almost an oxymoron as a city is generally a dense populated area with LOTSA PPL. Find someone and go out and do something! But for the general concept, urban planning is very important and while some cities are better planned and have more infrastructure such as ball games/bars/parks etc. some do not ... so if that point is invalid my opinion would be ...
Over 500,000 - Indianapolis, IN (Wonderful city folks never get bored of that, but suburbia sprawl and lack of outdoors activities hinders the city from developing a focal point within)
400,000 - Colorado Springs, CO (It's one of the few odd cities that feel as if it's federally owned and we know the feds can't get anything done with D.C. either, with a pop. near 400,000 it's stuck in between being a small city and that of a large city, I'm sure it'll grow and be vibrant in the future though, good place to raise kids and still driving distance to Denver nonetheless)
300,000 - Bakersfield, CA (you might want to avoid this place at all cost)
200,000 - Salt Lake City, UT (Great outdoors nearby, but city has some 4 bars with the same ppl u bump into all the time)
Under 100,000 - South Bend, IN (There's always Irish football games and the mayor is doing his best, but the city lacks in infrastructure)
Charlotte, NC. Had to go there for my job and spend weeks at a time. If you weren't into church or NASCAR, there really wasn't much to do. I didn't care about either one (note I said "didn't care"... I'm not "anti" church or NASCAR... just not interested in either for leisure time or pastimes). It seemed the only things people could relate to or talk about, so I listened, politely, and probably for thre first time in my life said to myself "this is really boring".
I learned to get out of the city and explore other areas nearby. Now THAT, I enjoyed.

LOL. I was being sarcastic...plus I think I had a little too much to drink when I made that post.
