Yes, its hard to believe Chicago is more dominant since LA appears on TV and news a lot regarding to what Paris Hilton is up to.

It's not. And it is not only Paris Hilton who lives in LA. Almost entire intellectula and cultural elite of the country either lives in LA or New York. Where is the dominance you are talking about?

Really? International dominance yet Chicago still clailms smaller domestic product than LA? You probably do not do such a great job dominating those markets in the first place Give it to New York, they'll show you how to make money...

Wait, is this suppose to be a follow up to the "number two" city thread? If so, then the poll choices are wrong. Confused. Oh, I see, we have somebody trolling the forums.

"Really? International dominance yet Chicago still clailms smaller domestic product than LA?"

That proves GMP does not mean financial importance

It only means that you have no clue what financial importance is.
It's not a plague, it's not a award. It's reflected in dollars or euros or yens. You can claim whatever you want, anybody can, but unless you prove your point with money it is moot. At least in economics.

Financial importance means affecting the world economy...that means FAR more than $700 billion. Chicago's financial institutions directly impact the world economy through its exchanges...it keeps the world spinning. Why talk about $700 billion if it doesn't affect the world the way Chicago's exchanges do?

If Chicago exchanges disapperad the business would be picked up by competing exchanges in the US and abroad. If LA's economy dissapeared it would be very difficult to plug than $700B hole. It's pretty simple.
