Actually I think Arlington technically a Fort Worth suburb so I guess technically they have the Cowboys and the Rangers. But seriously, they kind of share the pro-team with Dallas. Also, from what I understand, the city is growing about as fast as Austin.
BY the OP's standards then Denver, Minneapolis, Oklahoma City, and even Wichita are already 'major cities', leaving only cities that wold commonly be placed in tier 4 or below (Omaha, Kansas City, Tampa, Mobile, etc.) but are making decent progress.

Clever quite clever.... but what is the name on the "Teams" jerseys and on the "teams" Pay Checks.....Dallas...

Denver and Minneapolis are currently Gamma World Class Cities , and Kansas City MO had been one in the past...they are Major US Cities.... OKC and Wichita are coming up!!!!

lol! Thank you. I pride myself in being a clever guy. But if Fort Worth wasn't in Dallas' shadow, it would probably have it's own pro sports team. Of course, as Fort Worth grows (and it's growing like crazy), it will start to get more and more recognition from the outside world, maybe even a pro sports team.

Carolina is the name on the Pathers jerseys, but they are a Charlotte team. Florida is the name on the Marlins jerseys, but they are a Miami team. Minnesota is the name on the Vikings jerseys, but they are a Minneapolis - St. Paul team.
"Dallas" doesn't write the checks...the owner does. He probably lives in Fort Worth.

Oh yeah, the "Texas" Rangers are in the Fort Worth suburb of Arlington, so I guess you could say that Fort Worth does have a pro baseball team.

LOL..FOMC.....Yeah you may just be 20% right....but the owners do live in Dallas and wouldn't think of even hanging out in Fort Worth....
Yeah you better pray that the owner doesn't build a ball park in downtown Dallas anytime soom......
Well, the city of Dallas has been turning down offers to build the Cowboys' and Rangers' stadium for a while, so I don't think that will happen anytime soon. Besides, the Ballpark was completed in the early 90's, so it's still fairly new. Also, the team manager needs to be spending his money to keep all of the young talent on the team rather than building a new stadium.
