What a totally random post. Who said New Yorkers care about the West Coast or that West Coast cares about New Yorkers?

And yes, Californians think of New York City....I was thinking about New York City this morning actually when I stepped over a homeless man laying in the entrance of a drug store on the human feces infested streets of San Francisco. I was thinking of how that would never happen in New York and how much better and better run that city is.

When I read the NYT, it's hard to avoid reading about New York, when you turn on the evening news, it's hard to avoid thinking of New York. When I watch a movie, it's hard to avoid thinking of New York since half of them are set in New York. When I watch television shows, it's hard to avoid thinking of New York. When I read a magazine, it's hard to avoid thinking about New York sine they're all New York City-centric.

Sorry if this makes you angry, but yes we do think about New York and the East Coast (and I would think New Yorkers do think about Californians once in a while). So speak for yourself. I'm not quite sure people are as provincial in the real-world as they are on City-Data.

San Francisco has a massive supperiority complex. They are always trying to one up LA. LA gets the tallest building in California and then San Fran has to out do it. San Francisco names themself "Paris of the West" for crying out loud. The whole city just has a fake plastic feel to me.

I find myself defending both LA and SF everywhere I go in the country. People have very strong opinions of LA and SF and I always found that strange.

But its definitely LA that is resoundingly seen as being 'fake' and 'plastic' and "thirdworldish". Whereas SF is seen as an elitist, liberal cesspool, things of that nature.

I defend all of California when people attack the whole state and I defend LA and SD but rarely will I defend San Francisco.

San Francisco is nice but I will stick with LA and SD anyday. They just feel more real to me. and I love the beach culture here.

I appreciate the great differences between LA and SF. Works out in our favor overall. I don't know of any state with 2 major (world) cities that are so different in their layout and physical appearance.

As far as you not defending SF, most Californians wouldnt defend SF anyway so that's not a surprise.

I otoh dont mind because SF is a much better place than most of the places I go to and they make all these insulting comments. Its so ironic. LOL

Austin, Charlotte, or Portland, OR.

All of these cities need to get over themselves.

We didn't name ourselves that,it was a name people had given it.
The more you mention SF (99% of your posts) it becomes increasingly clear that you in fact have an inferiority complex, understandable, but give it a rest.
(And you should probably brush up on you're state history if you believe SF is always trying to one up LA)

and that's fine that you like SF but there comes a point when people (and posters on here) have their head so far up their a*s that they can't accept any city that isn't NYC or SF. I believe that is stuck up and snobby as hell. Every city in California is great. Just because they aren't dense and artsy glimmer doesn't mean they aren't great places. I just find people that don't like cities that are not dense as close minded and snobby. just my 2 cents.

Case in Point

if I had all the money in the World I wouldn't live in SF. I'll stay right here.

Most of the time I bash SF just to pi** you off and it works. LOL

You talk about our city more than your own it seems,so I don't believe that.
