San Francisco. You literally walk right out of one on Market Street, cruise down about a half a block and walk right into another one across the street. This continues for many blocks.
I remember reading an article about midtown Manhatten as having the highest concentration - i do know there is a block that has 4 and they do seem like they are everywhere
The article did reference that some were closing - a year or two ago at the start of the econmic situation
Seattle probably. The company was started and is headquartered there.
Actually I saw a smaller concentration of Starbucks in Seattle than I did in San Francisco. A strong presence of Peet's and Seattle's Best appeared to balance things out.
I'm not sure what those maps prove, you can type in any big city and you will get a ton of Starbucks on the map. Chicago shows similarly...
This site however measures the number of Starbucks per 10,000 people.
