Well, if you're that worried, I would simply point out that 18,000 students attend Cleveland State without incident.

Do you want to live in Cleveland itself or in one of our beautiful suburbs? Do you have kids?

The Forbes.com statistics that you're likely looking at are skewed to make you believe that the metro area is high crime. The reality is that most of the suburbs are completely safe and that the city proper has pockets of bad areas -- just like every other city in the country.

The area around Cleveland State University is perfectly safe. There are a few panhandlers here and there, but other than that, nothing to worry about.

However, where are you looking to live? Near campus? For a number of reasons, I'd recommend against that for a family. Maybe look to Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, or Lakewood for safe, family-friendly areas that are a short commute to CSU.

Hi Tom

I want to live as much as possible near the campus but if the suburbs is the ideal choice I will go for it. And I have one baby on the way
