Default Price Range...

We are looking at $700/month or less. My husband will be moving to Cleveland for his new job while the kids and I stay back to sell the house. All he really needs is a small studio...nothing fancy, but safe.

Thanks for your help!

Here are some links I got from a similar thread on urbanohio.com

http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=11923.0

they are basically classifieds. I would look into the Ohio City area less than a mile west of downtown. You have rail access, bus access neighborhod shoping a gentrifying area and really within biking/long walking distance of the plethora of activities in downtown. Also look at Tremont, Detroit-Shoreway, and West Park. These are all west side 'hoods. Really hope this helps.

Also not downtown but, Shaker Square has nice old apartments and two rail lines serving it as well as a shopping area. Kids attend Shaker Heights Public schools not Cleveland. Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights as well as Lakewood are nice urban suburbs you might want to check out.

The apartments in downtown are really getting fixed up now! They are super super nice but VERY expensive. Not the place for kids either. There is a lot of crime downtown! If you look outside of downtown you could get a studio for like $400. $700 will get him a real nice place! Is he planning on staying there once you guys move here? Cleveland schools are not the greatest, so you might want to look into suburbs, Lakewood, Fairview, North Olmsted on the west side. East side Cleveland Hts, Mayfield Hts, Shaker Hts. The east side has the old big houses, but not near a highway. Where exatly will he be working? Bridget

Default Great rentals in Shaker Heights/Square with rapid transit

Hi there,

A great, inexpensive alternative to renting in downtown Cleveland would be to check out apartment or even two-family rentals in the Shaker Heights/Shaker Square areas. You will have the convenience of downtown with either a short drive or can hop on the Rapid. Shaker has some super apartment buildings and you'll be able to use the pool/tennis courts here (as well as the schools if necessary). The Shaker Family Center is great for young families.

The city web site www.shakeronline.com has a link for Certified Shaker rentals which would be a good place to look for nice apartments!

Good luck!
