Good lord, what's the deal with people not wanting to live in the district they want to represent in Goldsboro??? Are the districts that jumbled up?

No, and there wasn't an issue (that I can recall) until the recent fiasco with councilman Antonio Williams, who has been nothing but a pain in the ass. The districts in this case are different, since this time it involves the Wayne County Board of Commissioners.

As far as I know, there hasn't been any issue involving Joe Daughtery until now. He's a hardcore Republican and I hardly ever agree with him, but he seemed to be one of the few to keep his nose clean of crap like this.

He posted a comment and explained his side of the story. The beach house he refers to is in Carteret County.

Quote:
This challenge is baseless and should be dismissed. I have lived in Wayne County for 48 years and owned a “Beach House” for over 30 years. I have retired and did not want the upkeep of a home in Walnut Creek thus sold it and moved to a townhome in Goldsboro. After renting for one year, I purchased the townhome in 2018. My voter registration, driver’s license, passport, bank accounts, insurance, etc all show my home/residence at my townhome address. There is nothing preventing me or any other registered voter from owning property at the beach, mountains, lake or other location. Many elected officials own secondary homes. It has been long established that these vacation homes do not have any effect on your domicile for voting purposes. Being almost 70 years old, I enjoy visiting my beach home when my duties or work allow me to get away. There have been several rulings that there is no violation of the domicile rule no matter how many days one sleeps at his domicile or elsewhere. Mr. Heath would do well to do his research before making baseless allegations. This is nothing more than a political dirty trick in an attempt to discredit my candidacy. I can only think that this attack is in response to my supporting a candidate that is not handpicked by the Raleigh Elites.
Whether the rest of his story is true or not, the last sentence reeks of BS.

School Board, Commissioners Approve Sales & Use Tax Projects | Goldsboro Daily News

One thing that stands out to me is this:

Dunsmore says building a new elementary school in Fremont tops the list.
This is surprising, but very good news. The original plan was to add classrooms, but given it's age, I guess they decided it's better to start from scratch. I went to school there from 1995-2000 and it's age was really showing even back then. From what I read, the school hasn't had any major work done to it since 1991 when new classrooms were added.
