Hi everyone, new member just relocated to Oriental. Would like to find some safe , active parks for five year old boy on weekends. Will drive into New Bern area for the day. Any suggestions?

There is a small park in New Bern where the Trent and the Neuse Rivers meet. Union Point. Places for fishing, some swings, and a pavillion type thing right at the point. Normally lots of families and kids. It may be worth the drive from Oriental, but I like Oriental. There are also usually a million ducks and a billion gulls hanging out, so if you want bring some bread or something and feed them. Watch the wind, though. Always feed downwind.

There is also a park, that I pass from time to time and it seems rather crowded with kids. You take the first New Bern exit headed toward town (I think that is first street, and take a left after about 3 blocks, at the first light. The park will be on your left, about 4 or 6 blocks after the turn.

Have Fun.
