I am not sure, I graduated a while ago so it would be more difficult to determine. Though I imagine GPA distribution would get higher overall the closer to graduation a class got.

Ah... Standardized tests, class ranking , curriculum difficulty, and extracurricular are used for consideration at my school.

3.3 is a great first semester GPA. Darn respectable, but not so good you get full of yourself and flame out down the line. My GPA started off at 3.2 and went up from there. The big challenge a lot of kids have is getting into the party scene. Stay away from that and keep up the good work!!!!

I took mostly GECs (isn't that what most freshmen do?) and finished the year with over a 3.9.

Keep it above a 3.0 and you are good. GPA is really only necessary for an entry level job imho, everything else is based off of experience.

Assuming you're going to a school that isn't known for grade inflation or deflation:

Good job, you're on the right track but you still have room for improvement. If you're not doing your best, work harder. If you're already working hard, look for ways to work smarter.

Nah - they turned Harvard down because their super-secret, best-in-the-world college visited their house, got on their kness, and begged them to attend there!
