Loveland Ski Area :: Colorado Ski Snowboarding Resort, Skiing Season Pass, Ski School
Loveland Ski Area is the closest and cheapest. There are 2 areas> Loveland Basin and Loveland Valley. Valley is basically a giant bunny slope and is used for instruction and day camps. Basin has much more. Loveland is not nearly as large as the major resorts, but is enough for me. Plus the lift tickets are almost half price from other areas.

Sorry to be difficult but I'm going to put this to the test and do a bit of online research here:
Loveland Season Pass: (range from $150 for child - $350 for adult)
Echo Mountain: $169 (for ages 6 - 64)
I've never actually skied either hill, but the map is telling me Echo Mountain is 103.8 miles from CO Springs and Loveland is 112.7 miles.
It appears Echo Mountain is both closer and cheaper.

You're right. Echo is cheaper for season passes, and closer by 9 miles. Not sure about a 1 day lift ticket price. Might have to try Echo although it appears to be fairly small. Here's a few stats.
Echo> 660' drop> 1 lift> 16 trails
Loveland> 2210' drop> 8 lifts> 93 trails> 1570 acres.

Echo has traditionally just been a park/pipe type of hill. not really a real ski mountain just a place for the denver kids to go shred. in comparison to Loveland, it's not even close. Loveland is actually pretty awesome (check out the Ridge), and cheap. Can't beat a four_pack for under $100.

Keep an eye out for some of the 2 for 1 deals out there too.
Shell has some for Monarch and Crested Butte, might have to wait till November.

What about the local ski shops? Any good swaps. I see one coming up in October at The Ski Shop. Where we live you have to show up almost the night before and get in line to get the good stuff. Anyone have the scoop? Attended any local swaps?

A-basin with it's beach option was my favorite when I lived in the Denver metro. They have imo the best late Spring skiing too.
