Hi,

Considering buying a home in CS. As far as safer areas, what is the safest - East, West, North, South? And is a home price of $200,000 doable in a good area? Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can get a good home in a good area for $200k. Use ppar.com to find tons of them; best to pick an area of town via the map search.

Most parts of town are fine, though the consensus on here is that the southeast area is generally best to avoid though by no means is it like the bad parts of Chicago, Detroit, East St Louis, etc.

Best to rent a year to learn the area and find what you really like; ppar.com also has a rental search.

Thanks, Mike from Back East. I am going to rent first. Someone told me the Briargate area was very nice. Anyone know of a small home/town home with a fenced yard for rent in that area or another area just as nice as Briargate? Thanks.

On ppar.com I just found 20+ SFHs for rent in the Briargate area, starting at $1200/month. Hard to go wrong at those prices compared to pricier cities. I'm sure there are tons more all over the area.

I found 5 THs in Briargate but none had fences. Lots to choose from all over town.
