Hi,
I am new to COS and looking for a church. I have always voted a Republican, until this last election, and am shocked that most evangelicals support him. While I am very aware that a church cannot legally take a political position, I am looking for a place where I can worship with people who share my interpretation of the Bible. After seeing what has come from the woodwork under this administration, I doubt I will ever vote Republican again (and no, I am not liberal, so please don't hate on me with name-calling). Since most of my church friends support Trump, as well as the church, I am seeing a need to reform my choice of denomination, as well. I am open to visiting any mainstream church that believes in the Bible and loves God and others.

Good luck according to the Bible every church should be anti trump...

In all seriousness the evangelical churches seem to be furthest from Christianity they worship money look up the prosperity gospel if you are unsure. I would stick to the catholic or orthodox churches as they are closer to the original message.

Born in the Springs, I see the prosperity message as a cult teaching. Go onto Youtube and listen to Francis Chan for an example of an evangelical who is not materialistic and preaches the Bible. My son just became Catholic a couple of years ago and I agree with you that their heart is in the right place - I just can't go along with some of their theology. I will take you up on your advice to look into the Orthodox branch. Thank you for being supportive!

I understand I don't follow a particualr denomination myself although I lean towards the Orthodox stance but the prosperity gospel is certainly a cult teaching. It is the worship of mammon many american christians worship mammon and not God.

I'm not religious myself, but I've been told that Quakers are mostly anti-Trump. If you're coming from an evangelical tradition, though, you'd probably find Quaker worship.... different. ;-)

I just wonder how it would have been received if someone a few years ago would have said I am looking for an anti Obama church.
