Where are you coming from, because its kind of subjective depending on the person. But anyway heres a link to a map showing where most of the crime takes place. Hope that helps you out .

IMO stay on the north end and you'll be fine.

Me too, but I think it is because I'm not from the north end so it feels very impersonal to me, whereas the south and west sides feel more like real neighborhoods to me.
To the OP, I think anywhere is fine, but some people have a few concerns about a few parts of town - like around Jetwing Drive/Chelton/Airport Road in the south central part of the city. Personally, I'd be fine living there, but if I had kids in school I'd choose a different neighborhood not so much for safety but for schools. I'd prefer to send my kids to a D11, D12, D3, D8, or D20 school.

Lalahartma - Not sure what you mean by creepy. If you're talking about Old North End (roughly the area bounded by Colorado College on the South, Monument Valley Park on the West, Wahsatch on the East and Penrose Hospital on the North; not exact boundaries, but this is the area I'm referring to), we find it to be just about the perfect in-town neighborhood. Very safe, wide, quiet streets (except the north/south arteries: Cascade, Nevada, and Wahsatch), close proximity to the park, well kept historic district homes in all different styles (no cookie cutter), friendly neighbors, etc. Take a drive or better yet walk up Wood Avenue or Tejon from the College to the hospital. It's a charming area. When we started scouting out areas to relocate to, we zeroed in on this area. We were able to find a house that we could afford (a lot of them we couldn't touch) and moved in a few months ago. Couldn't be happier and I'd recommend the area to to anyone looking for a good close-to-downtown neighborhood.

Whew. I was worried there for a second. Seriously, anyone looking for a downtown neighborhood in or adjacent to the historic area of COS, check out Old North End.

Just wondering what do you find "creepy" about them? I live on the Northside of the city near Chapel Hills Mall and don't find it creepy at all. On another note I also wouldn't worry about any neighborhood in the Springs personally, but there are however some neighborhoods, that depending on where your coming from, have more crime than others. I go to the East and Southeast sides of the city all the time and have never had any problems. Other people I know have had some problems, but I hear about crime up here too. No place is perfect with all friendly people and no crime.
